Information You Need To Know:

Deacons of The Village Baptist Church are elected to serve three year terms and to assist the pastor and church staff in the pastoral ministries of outreach to the community and to care for the church's members through the Deacon Family Ministry program. They work with the pastor, church staff, leadership teams, and committees in developing and maintaining focus on the vision and ministry of the church. They also assist the pastor in the ordinances of the Lord's Supper and baptism.

Qualifications (Constitution and Bylaws, Article II, section 3, p. 8):

To serve as a Deacon in this church, a man must be a professing Christian, at least twenty-one (21) years of age, who has been a member of this church for at least one year. He should strive to meet scriptural standards of 1 Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6:2-6. He must be a thither who gives regularly to the church’s general fund to meet budget expenses. He must be a man whose life gives clear evidence of Christ as Lord. He must be faithful in worship and Bible study attendance and be involved in the ministry of the church. He must be in harmony with the church and earnestly desire that God’s will be done through this church.

Who May Nominate (Constitution and Bylaws, Article 1, section 5, A1, p.5):

Only resident church members, 18 years of age and older, may cast a nominating ballot.

To Help With Your Selection:

Included will be a list of male church members (twenty-one years of age or older, and a member of Village Baptist Church for at least one year.) This list does not include the present deacons. Make your choices from this list.
